Living Your Best Life at Every Age: How Amenities and Choice Empower Older Adults

At Holy Family Senior Living (HFSL), we believe “living your best life” doesn’t stop with age, it evolves. For older adults, thriving means having choices, maintaining independence, and enjoying spaces and services that support physical health, emotional well-being, and meaningful connection.

That commitment spans our entire organization, from our Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), Grace Mansion, and Holy Family Manor to our eight affordable housing locations across the region.

At our main campus, residents enjoy a wide range of amenities that enrich daily life and foster connection. Four examples stand out:

In-House TV Station – Keeping Everyone Connected
Our in-house TV station ensures that no one misses out on moments that matter. Daily chapel services are broadcast live so residents who remain in their rooms can still participate in the spiritual life of the community. The station also features updates about events and important announcements, keeping everyone informed and included. This simple technology bridges distances, fosters spiritual connection, and keeps residents linked to the heartbeat of community life.

InReach Café – A Marketplace That Never Sleeps
Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the Café offers snacks, drinks, and small essentials. Having anytime access reinforces independence and choice, while the freedom to shop at one’s own pace preserves dignity. More than just a café, it’s a small convenience that adapts to each schedule, empowering residents to live on their own terms.

Resident-Led Gift Shop – Purpose, Connection, and a Personal Touch
Operated by resident volunteers, the Gift Shop is stocked with cards, small gifts, and unique finds. It is open at set hours, but its true purpose extends beyond transactions. The shop serves as a gathering place where conversations flow, friendships form, and residents take pride in contributing to community life.

PS Salon Services – Opportunities to Look Good and Feel Good
Our on-site PS Salon offers far more than haircuts. It provides moments of joy, self-expression, and confidence. From trims to full restyles, professional stylists bring skill and care, while conversation and laughter make each appointment as much about connection as appearance. Preparing for a holiday, a family visit, or simply a good day, residents leave with a boost that extends well beyond the salon chair.

In our eight affordable housing locations, the same mission comes to life in ways that reflect the unique character of each location. Every community includes welcoming common spaces where residents gather for social events, meals, or casual conversation. These shared areas serve as the heart of each location, places where neighbors become friends and community takes shape.

Just as important, Resident Support Coordinators (RSCs) are present in every region. RSCs serve as trusted partners, connecting residents with services, organizing activities, and helping neighbors navigate challenges. Their work ensures that each resident has the support needed to maintain independence and thrive.

Finally, many of our housing programs feature resident-led groups and activities. From community clubs to tenant councils and informal gatherings, these groups empower residents to take an active role in shaping their community, fostering a sense of ownership and pride.

One Mission, Many Communities
Whether at our CCRC, Grace Mansion, Holy Family Manor, or in one of our housing programs, HFSL’s mission remains the same: to provide the tools, support, and opportunities that help every person live their best life, on their own terms.
