At Grace Mansion Personal Care, part of Holy Family Senior Living, “home” is a word that carries deep meaning. For residents, it is not simply a place to receive care — it is a community built on friendship, faith, and compassion, where each day offers both comfort and connection.
For Joan, who moved to Grace Mansion in 2020, that sense of home was immediate.
“I actually thought — and still do — that the staff is so kind and caring,” she shared. “They are always reaching out to see what we need or how things can be improved. We are like one big family.”
For her, daily life is defined by both support and independence. She appreciates the ability to rest when she chooses, participate in activities at her own pace, and enjoy simple comforts like having her hair done in the salon. Most of all, she values the sense of safety and care that surrounds her each day.
“It doesn’t get much better than here,” Joan said. “We are blessed to go to Mass every day and celebrate the major holy days right in our chapel. I feel cared for every day.”
That shared spiritual life is also deeply meaningful for Jim, who describes Grace Mansion as a peaceful and faith-filled environment. He enjoys attending Mass daily, joining the rosary, and participating in Adoration on Tuesdays. For him, these moments of prayer and reflection were key in easing his transition into community living.
“I can sit quietly in the chapel before Mass,” Jim said. “That quiet time has helped me adjust. It reflects the life I want — a peaceful life of faith.”
Beyond spirituality, Jim also values the friendships and activities that fill his days, from music programs to special dining events like Chef Showcase. His family has also noticed the strong sense of community, with his son commenting on the teamwork and support shown by staff and residents alike during a fire drill — where everyone looked out for one another naturally.
For Ray, Grace Mansion became especially meaningful through family connection. Being able to visit his wife, Arlene, daily brought him comfort and joy. Over time, he too found
companionship among fellow residents, enjoying Bingo Fridays, Pokeno, and a variety of outings and activities.
He describes his experience simply: “It’s a nice family-like place to live.”
Ray also appreciates the balance between activity and rest, noting that while there is always something to do — from dances and musical events to creative projects — there is also time for quiet reflection and peace.
That same sense of belonging is echoed by Jinny, who has embraced both the social and spiritual life of Grace Mansion. Whether enjoying Friday bingo snacks, watching Game Show Network in the TV room, or participating in crafts with her friend Marie, she finds joy in everyday moments and shared experiences.
“Home is about family, friends, food, and sharing stories and memories,” Jinny said. “I’ve found all of that here.”
She also speaks highly of the staff, noting their kindness and willingness to listen and assist. Her son Eric often visits, and together they spend time with other residents, continuing the storytelling and connection that define daily life in the community.
Across each of these voices, a common theme emerges. Grace Mansion is not defined only by care and services, but by relationships — between residents, staff, families, and faith. It is a place where independence is respected, support is always close at hand, and each person is encouraged to live fully in community.
In Joan’s words, “We are like one big family.” And for many at Grace Mansion, that feeling is what truly makes it home.
