The HFSL Employee of the Season program recognizes exceptional performance of employees based on specific criteria.  The employees selected will exemplify the HFSL mission by making contributions that go well beyond the usual expectations of their employment.  The Employee of the Season program recognizes one outstanding team member each quarter or “season”.    

Who can nominate an employee for Employee of the Season?

  • Any current employee, staff, resident or patient may nominate a HFSL team member.

Who is eligible for Employee of the Season?

  • Full-time or part-time nonexempt HFSL employees in good standing with a minimum of 1 year of service.
  • Employees can only receive this award a maximum of one time every 4 years. 

 

The Human Resources Offer will verify eligibility.  Employees who have received an Employee Discipline Notice, Corrective Action or have been placed on a Performance Improvement Plan within the previous 12 months, for any reason, will be ineligible.

What does an Employee of the Season receive and how are they recognized? 

  • $200 Gift Card – from a list of options (subject to payroll taxes)    
  • (1) day of Paid Time Off (PTO) – to be used in the “season” awarded  
  • Seasonal Prize Pack               
  • Certificate of Recognition and letter    
  • Invitation to the Annual EOS Luncheon with the CFO – in November   
  • Recognition in HFSL Newsletter and on the HFSL Website  
  • Announcement at the next regularly scheduled Board of Directors meeting 
  • Recognized/posted in elevators and displayed on the kiosk outside the Gift Shop

How long will a nominated employee remain in consideration?

  • Each eligible nominee will be considered for the quarter or season in which the nomination is submitted only. Nominations received after the due  date will be considered in the next season.  If a nominee is not selected for Employee of the Season, the nomination may be resubmitted in              subsequent seasons.

What criteria is used in scoring and selecting the Employee of the Season?

  • Nominees are judged on a point system in four performance categories and may receive up to 1 point for each criterion, up to a total of 20 points. 
    • Attitude and Commitment     
    • Communication and Interpersonal Skills           
    • Job Knowledge and Work Performance 
    • Professionalism and Integrity 

 

In the event of a tie score, additional criteria will be scored, up to a total of 5 points in the Leadership and Mentoring category.

Who selects the Employee of the Season?

  •  All nominations are reviewed for eligibility for the factors listed above.     
  •  Department Managers and supervisors are asked to score nominees.          
  •  The EOS Selection Sub-Committee selects the Employee of the Season winner after confirming eligibility, tallying scorecards and reviewing each nomination.  The EOS sub-committee votes if a tie score is present between two or more nominees.  The EOS sub-committee is comprised of            the Chief Executive Officer, Director of Human Resources, Nursing Home Administrator, Director of Nursing, Scheduling and Staff Operations            Manager,  Personal Care Administrator and Director of Housing.  A designee may be assigned if the Selection Committee member is unavailable
